The Importance of Balancing Both Work and Family

When you wake up each day, do the many challenges of each day come crowding into your mind, overwhelming you at the many tasks that lie ahead? Do you feel like a tightrope walker on a stormy night when it comes to balancing out your family and your work?

If you have answered either of these questions in the affirmative, you are not alone. Millions of women the world over are faced with the same dilemma. Some, however, have learned to strike a balance between these two crucial spheres of their lives.

A simple solution for them was to have a routine that would make each day more productive, meaningful and balanced in every sphere. Will this work for you too? Why not give the following routine a try? Start your day by getting in touch with the Divine.

Even the biggest skeptics and non-religious people will agree that a good 15 to 20 minutes of meditation, combined with prayer, can do wonders for your day. As soon as you wake up, there is no doubt a hundred parallel thoughts running through your mind, ranging from your breakfast menu to that crucial deadline you are on.

Make these 20 minutes count to clear your mind, get in touch with the Divine, and to have a perfect start to your day. You will be amazed at how things fall into place after this! You know you cannot be superman or superwoman, but you can get at least part way there by nourishing yourself from within.

Did you know

Did you know that much of your mental energy, apart from physical energy, comes from the food you eat? Opt for a balanced diet that refreshes you so that you are all charged up to handle the day ahead of you. A good practice is to have breakfast as a family, daily if possible.

Not only does this give you a good chance to communicate with your spouse and kids, but it also helps you stay focused throughout the day and helps you determine your priorities. If you find yourself on an emotional low, or even if you are just getting there, feed your mind on positive thoughts.

Dinner, Bonding, and Communication

It is often said that there is no greater happiness that a person can get from life, than spending time with the ones we love. This has proven true over and over again, more in the smaller ways that count than the larger ones. It is about balancing your time.

A tender look from the man you love, a silent touch of his hand, a loving hug from your precious child – these are things that can brighten your day and fill your heart more than all the treasures of the world.
However, this can be quite hard to get if closeness does not exist within the family bond, and if there is a cold breach between you and your spouse, or with your children. One way in which you can bridge the gap is by spending meaningful time together. If you’ve made your time count at the office, you do not have to worry about carrying your work home with you and making it eat into your time with your family.

You can see now why it is so important to give your best at work in order to balance out your family life with your career! With ample time on your hands after work, how can you make it count to draw closer to your family? Well, consider three simple things that have worked for countless women all over the world.

Dinner

A well-cooked meal is said to be the way to a man’s heart, and this has proven true over generations. You do not need to cook gourmet dishes in order to be a good cook. A simple, balanced, nutritious meal that is well-cooked and tasty is more than sufficient. *One of the best meals are crock-pot dinners.

They are so popular now that many grocery stores have specific isles for all the many varieties you can choose from.

Bonding

Try to have dinner as a family and spend time together as often as you can. You might have had to rush to work in the morning, and breakfast would not have given you as much quality time with your family as dinner can. Don’t underestimate even carpooling as a great time to bond. Always have snacks in the car and a great way to start a conversation.

Rounding off Your Whole Day

Time, once gone by, can never be gotten back again. This makes it even more vital to make each day, each moment, precious and meaningful. Having started off your day on the right track, you’ve given your best at work, spent time with your family over dinner, and you have a few more hours before you call it a day.

When you look back on this day, what will you see? Will it be a day well spent? Will you be satisfied with it? Would you say that you’ve been able to balance out your life? Well, take a while to consider how you can round off a rather balanced day and make it more complete. Many women tend to focus on giving of themselves and get little or nothing in return.

This is done, most often, unconsciously, rather than a voluntary attempt to be a willing sacrifice!

If you’ve gotten into this rut and find yourself busy giving all the time, this is where you can strike a balance. Focusing on family and balancing out your career with your loved ones is good. However, you need to take time out for yourself too. You owe this to yourself and to those around you.
