Raynaud’s Disease, also known as Raynaud’s Phenomenon, is yet another disease whose side effects can be steadily improved. PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy can curb the effects of Raynaud’s Disease, especially in the colder months. I’ll cover how temperature affects people later on in this blog. For now, I want to cover exactly what Raynaud’s Phenomenon is for those who may not know. Additionally, Raynaud’s Phenomenon is a misleading disease. Allow me to educate you on how and why this is.
What Exactly Is Raynaud’s Phenomenon?
Raynaud’s Phenomenon is considered a rheumatic illness, which means it’s categorized by a chronic condition. Luckily, it’s not a disease associated with chronic pain. Depending on the severity of the condition, the pins and needles that come with it can be discomforting to temporarily disabling. Yes, you know the other major players in this chronic category—arthritis, osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia. It mainly affects people’s digits—our fingers and toes—the smaller body parts furthest away from our torso where there’s more heat. Sadly, over 20{b91d9daa4ecb925a4d66f4a18ad6d9aae920791e62411a070901cef80c7f8e58} of the American population suffers from Raynaud’s Phenomenon—that’s roughly 66,000,000 people! Indeed, the side effects are as follows:
- “A pale blue or reddish tint to the fingers during cold temperatures.
- Spasms occur in the blood vessels.
- Abnormal nerve control.
- Loss of heat in the fingers, which may bring on the pale blue and reddish tint in the fingers.
- Fingers and toes are ALWAYS cold.” — Source: PEMF Therapy Education.
In regards to cold weather, Raynaud’s can often be misinterpreted for vasculitis–the inflammation of blood vessels. In colder weather, our hands, fingers, feet, and toes are naturally cold. In the event, you’re unsure which condition you’re experiencing, I advise to, of course, consult your doctor. Keep an eye on if the conditions continue after the weather warms up. This might be your tell-tale sign of the existence of Raynaud’s Phenomenon.
Understanding Spasms And Blood Flow
To understand how PEMF therapy can improve and treat Raynaud’s disease regardless of the weather, let’s look at the symptoms. The phenomenon is caused by abnormalities of our blood vessels and the blood flow. A lack of blood flow prevents blood from reaching our fingers and toes. Without sufficient blood flow to those certain body parts, it prevents warmth from reaching them as well.
On the other hand, spasms within blood vessels bring the same problem. Spasms definitely block blood flow. As a result, skin color can change to a paler shade or blue. Pins and needles and various numbing feelings can come about as a result of insufficient blood flow. In extreme circumstances such as the arctic weather, frostbite occurs, turning the skin black and possibly killing the finger or toe in question.
Correcting Raynaud’s Phenomenon With PEMF
Because PEMF therapy waves operate on lower frequencies, as I’ve mentioned in my previous blogs, those waves pass right through us. The vibrations reach our blood vessels and stimulate those spasming blood vessels. The frequencies put our vessels back in balance and correct their functions. Therefore, a corrected blood vessel is synonymous with a pipe valve opening. Once back in place, blood can flow freely as it should.
Raynaud’s Phenomenon And Its Dire Consequences
Extended imbalances in blood flow through our vessels can lead to long-term ill health and damage. Therefore, even if you do not own a PEMF device, but do have Raynaud’s Disease, it’s important to stay warm and stay moving. Warmth will help keep your body working as best as it can. Moving will enable blood to properly circulate throughout your body. This is especially true of those of us who sit at a computer desk and work all day. Ensure you get your work done, but also take walking breaks, standing breaks or move often to keep the blood flowing.
To correct measures of this disease, our PEMF mats, specifically, the iMRS line can help. A full body mat stimulates the blood vessels throughout our whole body at the same time. In other words, circulation improves by applying whole body treatment.
